Samsung phones are the ****. I have no complaints.MrTwosheds wrote: Got a phone from samsung for xmas, Trustingly I down loaded their software, and a nightmare ensued. May be possible that an undetected infection was already present, but down loading "Samsung keas" seemed to open a door, the back door.
I find it odd that you got a drm 'virus/trojan' from kies, though.
Although to be honest, I haven't used Kies in over a year. These are the joys of CyanogenMod.

Same here (so far). Piracy is making replicas for profit. Individual downloading/copying is somewhat handled by ISPs by throttling. Although Bell just announced they were going to stop that.Nielk1 wrote:A few things need to be noted. Piracy is not counterfeiting, at least not here, piracy is copying the original exactly. The way to stop piracy is NOT to try to protect your assets as that will only make people not want to buy them, it is not to go after the pirates with laws as invariably the laws become to broad and an enemy to the normal people. The way to stop piracy is to either move to a service model instead of a product model, or to make the pirated version WORSE than the paid one. So far most companies are only pretending to embrace a service model so that they can gain more control (possibly even sell your information for more money) and only actual customers are hurt by DRM and other methods of control. When I buy a game, and I have to go find a crack to play it, I wonder to myself why didn't I just pirate it in the first place. The company clearly doesn't care about the product if they nurf it so badly I need to go do something illegal (DMCA) to get it to work.
Trading copies of music is hardly new. People used to trade tapes via mail. I wonder if SOPA/ACTA would consider bootleg trading via mail indictable offences?

I don't know that the trojan came from keas, It may just use Keas as a back door key as it were.I find it odd that you got a drm 'virus/trojan' from kies, though.
The Drm markany content safer, does come from keas, If you have installed keas you should find it hidden on your c drive.

Kim Dotcom got fifty years.
By contrast, a man who raped a woman, killed her and then burned her body got twenty.

Its funny isn't it, You start off with a Nation run by unelected extremely wealthy old people given title's and control of the land by the state. Then you have a revolution or a war, lots of people die for their freedom, they overthrow the tyrants and build a democracy, run by unelected extremely wealthy old people given title's and control of the land by the state...

Dem' old people don't know about my technology. They shouldn't have any say over it if they're over the age of 40.

Even though I am in that category, I agree with you, around that age people get tired and cynical and stop believing that change is possible or even desirable, they should be kept at a safe distance from power and politics, like children and fireworks.
Re: Megaupload shut down
Resistance to change isn't a bad thing so long as it is not absolute. However, reactionary restriction is not the way to go. The correct conservative action is to make the internet remain as open/closed as it already is.
