New PC.
Ordered my new PC last week, although I'm having some trouble with what seems to be a faulty motherboard at the moment (MB and CPU have gone back under warranty), these are the specs I ordered, in true "show off your PC" style...
Intel Core i7-3820 @ 3.6GHz 10MB L3 Cache
ASRock Extreme 4 x79 Motherboard
Zotac GeForce GTX 560Ti '448 Edition'
Kingston HyperX Quad-Channel Memory, 16GB @ 1600MHz (4x4GB)
Corsair H80 Liquid CPU Cooler
Corsair 600T Midi Case In White
Corsair TX750M Modular Power Supply
OCZ Vertex 60GB Solid-State Drive
Western Digital Caviar Green Hard Disk Drive - 2TB 64MB Cache
AOC 22" LED Monitor Displays (x2)
TP-Link Wireless-N USB Network Adapter
Avid Pro Tools Keyboard
+ Bog-Standard mouse and Optical Drive
It should be built by now, but the Mobo problem has prevented me from doing so. Might delve into the area of overclocking but doubt I'll need to to be honest.

Re: New PC.
TJ's job no doubt pays more than mine (I am only just above minimum wage), and I can earn that much in two months. Rich doesn't come into it.
Re: New PC.
So now we both have new PCs, though I went for a good mouse, I am still having issues with my BR drive thinking an audio CD is in it on bootup.
This is mine, no links though:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit (OEM Disk)
Intel i7-3930K 3.2GHz 12M LGA2011 Processor (6 cores keeps up well with my multitasking)
Corsair Vengeance 16GB 1600MHz RAM Kit (4GB x 4) (Only filled half my ram slots!)
Asus P9X79 Pro X79 SKT 2011 ATX MotherBoard
Seagate 2TB Barracuda XT SATA 6G 7200 Hard Drive
OCZ Solid 3 Series 120GB 2.5" SATA SSD Drive
EVGA GeForce GTX 570 1280MB Video Card
Corsair Obsidian 800D Full Tower Chassis
Corsair Gold AX850 850W Power Supply
Asus Xonar DX Sound Card
Asus -BW-12B1ST/BLK/G/AS- Blu-Ray Burner
Corsair Hydro H80 CPU Liquid Cooler
Cyborg R.A.T.7 Gaming Mouse (Laser, not optical)
Logitech G510 Keyboard
2x Dell Ultrasharp 24" 16:10
I lost my job though, Obama has caused issues for the industry.

Re: New PC.
If I was to throw my 2 cents in on Jamsh's choices, I believe I would not get the liquid cooler unless you're serious about OCing, and I'd buy a much cheaper, simple case. As long as the internal sheet metal edges are turned, I'm pretty much good to go. Drop the wireless unless it critical, and possibly consider a high-res TV instead of 2 monitors. A 1900x1080 37" LCD like the Samsung LN37D550 is very nice. Then take the extra ~$125 bumping the video card to a GTX 570.
Of course all this is assuming the $$ ceiling remains the same.

Re: New PC.
I am partial to double displays myself (forgot to add those to my list). I keep one in landscape and one in portrait, the portrait one being the secondary used for performance graphs, chat programs, and reading documents and web pages.
Plus, I don't think TV screens have as good a resolution and all that extra stuff inside ups the cost.

Re: New PC.
Yes, you do pay extra for built-in speakers and the extras (remote) you might not use.
I have a co-worker who has the LN37D550 in his office as a monitor. I too was very doubtful at first, but it made me into a believer. . .of sorts.
The resolution is 'just enough' for most everything except trying to cram too much on the screen and read smaller text. The smallest readable text size is around 11 or 12 font @ 100%. It has a crap load of inputs, and not having to have speakers on his desk gives him extra space. What I found very nice, he can have an Autocad drawing on the screen and see close to its printed scale. Great for checking over before printing.
The lines between monitors and TVs are almost gone.

Re: New PC.
TVs might even leapfrog monitors, if 4k catches on.
Re: New PC.
TJ is a sound engineer, which makes multiple monitors exceptionally useful. Lateral space is far more useful than vertical in sound engineering due to the way DAWs lay data out. Three monitors is supposedly the best, but most people tend to go for two.
Re: New PC.
It sort of does. As in that you apparently can spend all that money on whatever you wish. Most of us here have to pay rent, and not much less important .. food .. etcAHadley wrote:TJ's job no doubt pays more than mine (I am only just above minimum wage), and I can earn that much in two months. I can easilly make more money than you/TJ (probably do), but I cant buy a new PC like this every 2 months
Re: New PC.
how is it? I was eyeballing it a few days ago, and wondered if it's really all it's cracked up to be...Nielk1 wrote:........... though I went for a good mouse....................

Re: New PC.
I'm assuming I don't spend anything else (no food costs, travel costs, rent, etc.). Taking that into account it would probably take three.
