Mort, shut up.
Zax wrote: FE was great and all, but it kind of had to bring an entire civilization that blew its own planet up back to life. You can hang a mod on that storyline, but a sequel to the game itself would have been a tenuous hook.
Braddock's destruction of Core was part of FE's storyline. The Scion's didn't get better; after alchemation, they no longer needed the Scion dialysis. A significant portion of the Scions escaped the planet before the blast and fled back to the Scion system, from where the rest of the story begins (shot down by Hadeans, rescued by Olympians, get message of the Hadean crusade back to the AAN). I'm working on a mod called Zero Hour that leads up to the destruction of Core...
Zax wrote: BZ2 had the initial Scion rebels, explained by, well... they ummm, rebelled and you know... arbitrary enemies I guess.
...and links the Scion rebels to it. The Scions under Burns wanted humanity and the Scions to live side-by-side, as one species. The rebel faction wanted the species to go its own way, and without giving too much away, they don't have time for anybody who opposes them, human or otherwise.

Mortarion wrote: Also, makes no sense why the cold war plotline was abandoned in BZII, everyone suddenly became happy with one another after they defeated the furies? Bullshit.
America and Russia are friends now. Battlezone II and its mods are (roughly) set between 2000 and 2030.

Mortarion - your language and attitude is inappropriate. There are ways to communicate with proper language. You have not shown yourself able to do that so far. If you continue down this path, you will earn yourself a temporary ban. As this site's comments say, there are a million places to post online. You can go elsewhere if you need to communicate in your fashion.

(UPDATE): After 1 warning yesterday, and 5 today, all for language, Mortarion has earned a 1-week temporary ban. The one warning 24 hours ago should have been a clue that harsh language is not welcome here. Repeating that mistake five more times after the first warning is willful defiance. Thus, the temporary ban.

Right now, it's just the name. I've given up on anything I've complained about before.

Ahadley your post missed my point. I'm talking FE's Hadeans suddenly getting better. No, they were all dead. They blew up their planet. Suspension of disbelief works in a mod, but can't be the premise for a sequel.

I don't need Scion rebels and warring factions explained to me, just that it constantly happened throughout bz2 was so droll. In modern fiction, there is one rebellion that matters: star wars. The rest are just tired plot devices.

Star Wars is full of the same stuff when you look at it properly. All sci-fi is based on the same few devices.

And with regard to the Cthonians - they had influenced Earth culture, so we knew they had enough technology to reach other planets. What's to say they didn't have colonies outside Sol, or that there weren't Cthonians on Earth?

Its sort of funny how I always read from big BZ1 fans on random sites the rare times they crop up that BZ2 was bad because it dropped the human vs human for ALIENS. Proof they didn't play it really.

BZ2 was very open for a sequel, it was designed for one. Just ask for how many games Pandemic had licensed the name "Battlezone".

Some of them try to stick to this even after playing it through. Hell, some BZ2 players still stick to it.

Hmmm, Star Wars....All sci-fi. I have never READ Star Wars. hopefully I never will.
Science fiction is a literary genre. Films or TV are another thing entirely, a different art form, that can tell the same story.
Most stories are based on the same few devices, SF usually just decorates them with (hopefully) excess imagination, which is why I like it.

A Movie, Ok ill give it a go but I'm already sceptical.
A Book, Ill read it before I judge it.
Film of the book, worth a try I suppose.
Book of the film, Just go away, don't waste my life. :)

The C-canon books are significantly better in many respects.
