Hasn't anyone read Gibson? If it gets restricted and regulated, many will ride in the shadows of the packets. . .travel the byroads of the mesh.

Re: Interesting article thread
can't really be good news can it. People who's vital organs have failed should have the decency to just go and die. Becoming parasitic on other living people is disgusting. Anyone caught getting an illegal organ should be quickly sentenced to a removal and return operation with legally enforced donation of their entire wealth and properties to the victim.

Larry Niven delved into the premise of organ harvesting at every opportunity in several short stories.
I have to say, if we are going to have the death penalty, we should at least harvest every bit of the carcass. It would be an offering of redemption to the society where he/she has been found guilty of whatever heinous crime.

I have no doubt that people about to be executed are given plenty of opportunity to donate. I would not be surprised if many turned down that opportunity.
There have been quite a few advances in research on growing replacement parts from peoples own tissues, hopefully this will become the normal way to do things in the future, got to be better than using someone else's leftovers.

Re: Interesting article thread
No idea, I wasn't around then. I think its more likely things have got a lot better, but I don't see that this has anything to do with our Queen really. Might as well ask if things have got worse in the UK under Rupert Murdoch's rule, he has considerably more power here than the Queen. We don't get to vote for him either. What do you think the chances are of Kermit the frog standing for election in the UK? I think he would do rather well and we could all be content knowing that we had a real puppet with experience running the show for once.UK has changed for worse under Queen Elizabeth: poll

Cause at some point they had the money and the power and told others to do some killing and robbing for them so they could stay in that position.AHadley wrote:No idea why this country has a monarchy. No idea why anybody cares.
We have a monarchy as well
(I am all for them not having any real(read: direct) political control over our country but I am also against removing them. Better yet, with the marines I swore loyalty to our queen, but not our country ...)

Re: Interesting article thread
Quite simple AH, because getting another system would involve giving power to someone else... As it is our head of state has no power other than ceremonial duties, and is not permitted to get involved in politics. This empowers parliament. (in theory) In practice however it seems to have blurred the focus of power and enabled the likes of bankers and media owners to pull their stings quietly and effectively without much constraint. This is why our Nation seems to act like a financially addicted reactionary Zombie, incapable of making any rational decisions that are actually in the interests of the British people.
What we lack are the powers kings once possessed for good reason. I think we need the ability to pass a "death sentence" on corporations and other organisations that operate against the nations interest. Without such powers, our diffuse power base is actually a very weak and corruptible system.

How can you tell they're the king/queen?
If given the truth, the people can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts - and beer.
