Re: BZ2 1.3.6.4b patch - OPEN BETA & TESTING
This patch has been playing nicely. I like it so far. I think my first game must have had a joiner with a bad ping to cause the problem I posted earlier. Haven't had any trouble with joiners or anything since.

Re: BZ2 1.3.6.4b patch - OPEN BETA & TESTING
Here is the list of IPs I have banned so far.
As for TheEmperor's question, there is a /ban command, but it is temporary. Once you shut down bz2, the banlist is cleared. Once you add it manually to banprefs, it is permanent.[UserPrefs]
// Bans for specified addresses. To use these, you must fill in the
// address (replacing the "aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd/eee"), and uncomment it
// (remove the // from the start of it). No support is currently
// present for unbanning while BZ2 is running. Items in the following
// list may be commented out; subsequent items will be read. More IPs
// may be bannable that there are lines here; the exact number is
// undisclosed.
//
// The /eee component is a netmask of how many bits of the first part
// are checked. If it is 32 (default), the IP must match exactly. If
// it is 24, it is as if the 'ddd' component was wildcarded -- some
// would write 'aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd/24' as 'aaa.bbb.ccc.*'. If it is /16,
// then it blocks aaa.bbb.* . If the netmask is 0 (not recommended),
// it'll block every IP (not recommended).
//BanIP1 = "68.3.228.114/24" // Sean/SeanTheGreat, who seems to be trying to cause lag in games
BanIP2 = "194.45.228.126/24" // Iieutenant-ita (194.45.228.126:54924) (Broadband) joined session
BanIP3 = "46.16.33.209/24" // BC_SIave (46.16.33.209:50926) (Broadband) joined session
//BanIP4 = "aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd/32"
//BanIP5 = "aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd/32"
//BanIP6 = "aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd/32"
//BanIP7 = "aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd/32"
//BanIP8 = "aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd/32"
//BanIP9 = "aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd/32"
//BanIP10 = "aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd/32"
//BanIP11 = "aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd/32"
//BanIP12 = "aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd/32"
//BanIP13 = "aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd/32"
//BanIP14 = "aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd/32"
//BanIP15 = "aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd/32"
//BanIP16 = "aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd/32"
Re: BZ2 1.3.6.4b patch - OPEN BETA & TESTING
Had someone join my game thinking they were being smart. Used characters that make their names look identical to players already ingame. Examining the logs allowed me to see how they pulled this off.
Iieutenant-ita (194.45.228.126:54924) (Broadband) joined session
BC_SIave (46.16.33.209:50926) (Broadband) joined session
In-game, a capital i looks exactly like a lower case L. Sneaky, but not smart enough. That and I don't kick using usernames.

Re: BZ2 1.3.6.4b patch - OPEN BETA & TESTING
i would take everything commando says with a grain of salt because: he made me ban several innocent people see this threadviewtopic.php?f=4&t=1827&start=15, he also takes credit saying it was me so that excludes an impostor and he says he was doing it to help me which of course is nonsense
Re: BZ2 1.3.6.4b patch - OPEN BETA & TESTING
He's also effectively 1.3's lead tester.
The Nielk1 you saw was most likely an impostor. If "commando" appeared to leave and rejoin after you banned the players you did, then the one who rejoined may have been somebody else using his name.

Re: BZ2 1.3.6.4b patch - OPEN BETA & TESTING
I joined his game because i saw someone impersonating leutenant-ita. I suggested that he ban said ip because said player had joined my game to cause problems. Once you restart bz2, those ips will be unbanned.

Re: BZ2 1.3.6.4b patch - OPEN BETA & TESTING
That is how i kicked them from my game.
Re: BZ2 1.3.6.4b patch - OPEN BETA & TESTING
When you banned said "innocent" players, which they were far from, in-game, it was a temporary ban. Once you restart bz2, the ban will be lifted. You have to edit the banlist.ini file for permanent bans. That is assuming you were even the host . As I can't look up your ip, I'll take that with a grain of salt.

Re: BZ2 1.3.6.4b patch - OPEN BETA & TESTING
There isn't really a such thing as an "MPI Troll". There are people who troll MPIs, which are normally "Strat Trolls". The warped agenda of such individuals is to claim that those playing MPI are going to join a STRAT game one day and ruin it by being awful. Pretty stupid isn't it? Yet they use that as the explanation for their operations.
Re: BZ2 1.3.6.4b patch - OPEN BETA & TESTING
I get the feeling these are mostly strawman sockpuppets.

Re: BZ2 1.3.6.4b patch - OPEN BETA & TESTING
Honestly, there doesnt have to be an 'agenda' behind people trolling other people and I think before you accuse people of doing things for X reasons, you had better get some damn good evidence, and not just circumstantial crap or speculation that wouldnt hold up in any reasonably informed debate for that reason.Nielk1 wrote:There isn't really a such thing as an "MPI Troll". Here's an idea. Select that optional recycler variant with a clearly abusable game mechanic. Get griefed. Do it again, get griefed again. Ad infinitum. Or maybe someone could just fix the darned bug. :p
