Unofficial Anti-Griefer Patch

Post by Commando »

Is there any interest in this? I know Sly has openly admitted to joining MPIs and intentionally killing the team's recycler so I had added his IP to my banlist along with the IPs used by another member's proxy. For those interested, replace the IP section of your ban.ini, with the following. A description of why they were banned can be seen to the right of the ip. If anyone is aware of any other IPs used by these members, feel free to post them.

//BanIP1 = "68.3.228.114/24" // Sean/SeanTheGreat, who seems to be trying to cause lag in games
BanIP2 = "24.99.46.118/32" // A notorious 1.3 Griefer (Kills team recyclers and intentionally team kills)
BanIP3 = "98.206.106.199/16" // Blocks Vearie while he uses his proxy
BanIP4 = "74.115.0.33/24"
BanIP5 = "94.0.128.218/32" //Posts servers claiming MPIs damage hard drives
//BanIP6 = "24.99.46.118/32" // Sly
//BanIP7 = "99.225.124.69/32" // Tom
//BanIP8 = "184.7.245.6/32" // Lucifer
//BanIP9 = "38.126.75.51/32" // Unknown cloaker
//BanIP10 = "aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd/32"
//BanIP11 = "aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd/32"
//BanIP12 = "aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd/32"
//BanIP13 = "aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd/32"
//BanIP14 = "aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd/32"
//BanIP15 = "aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd/32"
//BanIP16 = "aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd/32"

I don't use a proxy to grief MPIs.

Why are you even bothering to keep an IP list when you don't play the game?

70.143,253.*.*
68.92.248.3
71.153,157.*.*
70.232,252-253.*.*
75.8-12.*.*
209.30.147.198
74.109.200.43
64.149.212-215.*
68.91.213.94

hostname for above IP's: *.dsl.stlsmo.swbell.net

That could cover PH. That would also cover pretty much most of the east coast on SBC networks. So be careful with that ban range.

Also, 98.206.106.199 is just veary. comcast.

Btw, best way to determine if someone has spoofed their IP somehow is to perform a Reverse DNS or whois on the IP for information. You should be able to figure something out. Just make your own judgement.

Vearie uses the same proxy, which produces the same IPs. I'll take your name off of the list, but the IPs will remain unchanged.

Your right, I haven't played much bz2 in a while. I got tired of the disappointment that was,and still is the 1.3 testing team.

If testers would do their job, I would be more active. I've gotten to the point where I'm not going to waste entire days sitting around in the chat room. It ends up annoying me seeing 5+ testers there, who don't contribute to testing. That annoyance after awhile turns to anger.

Fyi, I got your IP minutes before posting thanks to a post on www.bz2maps.com. Someone on the site, made it effortless to find the ips.

LOL! Don't you just love it when people don't know what they are talking about.
Commando has been the Most active of all the testers and has probably put more effort into 1.3 than just about anyone else on the team, to say he does not play the game is just utterly ridiculous and as you were a tester (I think I saw testing you once) and had access to mantis before it died, you should know that. Still maybe you never bothered to actually look at it.
Ph commando would kick your butt in a strat!

I don't hang around in the chat room, I know that some of the names there are just connections logged in. I test when I can, I start a bz2 session and hopefully another tester will join, Don't get angry Commando, non of us get paid for doing this, do what you can when it suits you.

I would say that is inaccurate. I don't play human vs. human strats. My main annoyance is I have been able to play two games in maybe three months. I understand people are busy, but two games in three months.

I was the most active tester, but as of lately, I haven't been active at all. I only have weekends off, and when I'm off noone else has been around so I find other things to do. I just got tired of sitting in the chatroom for hours and noone showing up. That's one of the main reasons I stopped working on the modlog. Noone has indicated it has even been useful and there's just no point to it when I can't even test the one aspect this build is made for, MULTIPLAYER. Testing single player is like beating a dead horse. We all know the major bugs.

I found the mod log very useful, but there are only a few of us who even use it I suppose.
Our real lives come first, testing bz2 is only some thing you should do when it convenient for you, I maybe only do a few hours a week in the evening and at odd times, I try to check major bugs slipping in, but as you say It is very rare that we get more than 3 players in a game. We will just have to let the beta release's show up anything that's there.

I was off three days a week, almost half of the week, and noone was around. I can understand if I was only off one day a week and that being some oddball day, but this was with at least one day off in the weekend. I had even changed my work schedule around three times within a year to try to work around testers' schedule, which in the end proved pointless. My new philosophy is RL produces enough disappointments, I don't need any more from bz2 or it's "testers".

Two-sheds, I could 1v5 all your best testers that love to MDM statues and probably win. Doesn't matter though, your ban list won't do ****. Putting a ban range on will ban over 15 players currently on my IP list.

If I were him I would accept the challenge. I cannot see how one person could possibly defeat five in bz2.
