There is that, yes...

Their requests have actually been reasonable. At worst they veto something that they think would change the game too much.

If you knew the insanity spock brought upon BZE from ANY gameplay changes, you'd know who you're really dealing with here. Asking for ANY gameplay changes, once again. . .reveals the opposition to BZE was never about change, and clearly shows it was all about control.

But once again. . .not to be "hostile", but you have no idea about the history of the online play.

And I suppose that's a facet of the whole peculiarity of BZ1.5, no real idea what has happened in the past, and how you have been molded and manipulated. . .bad OR good, to do what you're doing.

It was very much hell. Lost a lot of players because of all that nonsense and even I took a hiatus of a few years.

BZ's online play history is one of the most convoluted and disfunctional I have ever seen.

Don't worry, Ken - you're doing fantastic work, and it's the community that is its own worst enemy.

Perhaps this is why BZ21.3 started a private team...

No, Ken is doing good work.

But with a recent public release of BZE we're seeing more of the same harassment and it's frustrating and annoying. All would be fine without the childish antics of a few people.

If those few people weren't here in the first place, 1.5 would probably be finished by now...

Ha! Well, those few were also the ones that finally convinced Ken to get to work on it. :)
Although they weren't the first to ask.

I was about to put "If those few people weren't here in the first place, we wouldn't have 1.5 anyway", but I decided that was defending them and that's not something I'm going to do unless they can redeem themselves (and that's never going to happen )

I pretty much told them my stance on it early on. There's plenty of room in the world for BZ 1.5 and BZE. :)
They have another stance.

Distrust or lack of control?
I would say control. ;)

And now, a word from Spock, your dear leader:

That reads a lot like a call to war to me.

That is post is classic spock immature misdirection, and anyone over the age of 12 and average sensibilities who doesn't recognize it. . .well. . .I feel sorry for them in real life, as I'm sure they are taken advantage of on a daily basis.

But also remember who his audience is here (assuming the screen shot wasn't taken and posted here). . . most likely kids.

And I see he's still fixated on the "hundreds of players" gambit, whether it is what he supposedly had at his server, or his fantasy of a BZ1.5 future.

"...you can't be friends with both parties..."

Now all new and old BZ players must file an application with Spock if it's okay to befriend someone

Is it any wonder all the old players are flocking in one direction? With any luck, and if the old players have any sense, 1.5 will deal Spock's crew a crippling blow. Newsflash, Spock. I know you read this. 1.5 will not bring any new players. Most of todays gamers are too busy with 360s and PS3s. The PC gamer is a dying breed. Those who are still around are unlikely to be interested in an old relic like Battlezone. Either of them. There will be no new players.

Yes, that statement along with, "so joining them you are guilty by association and are not welcome in BZ anymore" reveals spock's delusional fog in two ways, one quite damaging to the game overall.

First, in his goofy thought process, he somehow thinks he 'owns' BZ1.4, when he's done absolutely nothing for the game except to have a corrupt and dishonest server.

Second, he alienates anyone who wants to play a mod.

If he had not caused so many to leave the game BZ1.4, it would be laughable.

If he played any other game he'd know that mods are a healthy part of the community. But since he doesn't, he's doomed to host a server of marionettes for the foreseeable future.
