Seemingly little-known fact: Static Charge is way more effective at countering APC Soldiers. I try to keep a crate of it lying around if I suspect there could be an APC army lying in wait.

So that's what static is for. Fortunately jammers usually counter air attacks pretty effectively.

And who actually keeps Static Charge around (besides you)? Maybe in an MPI, but I've never seen anyone do that in a strat.

Probably because APC's are like impossible to kill Scions with. Unless you feel like suiciding your Sabres in an attempt to destroy Jammers.

How often do you see armies (More than 5) APCs running around? Not often. That's how often I have Static laying around.

Jammers are actually not that effective against APC attacks, all it takes is one AI Scout to paint a Scion building and every single one of those Soldiers will be deployed against that building.

Wrong. Use Scouts for targeting.

I see "APC armies" (usually 20-40 APCs) all the time in FFA strats.

I tend to build 2 or three jammers in my base.

FFA is kind of different though.

Yes, FFA is different. a turtled Scion (depending on map) is fairly screwed against a huge APC army, because eventually you'll have to leave base and attack, or just quit the game otherwise.

I had the jammer and was keeping dd from targeting my base for a while, but eventually I grew complacent. Knowing what was to come, I had static and tons, TONS of guardian turrets lined up. It did a good job, but hundreds of soldiers did their work while still in air. Oh well, game ended. That map (one with tunnels leading to the other bases on each side) is poorly made and poorly pathed anyhow.

Is there any intelligent way to do this, or do you just take the "luck of the dice" and target whatever the scout happens to show you?

Will the scout tend to expose something closer to the scout unit than further away? It seems to work that way in my instant games, but I'm not certain.

Scouts will mark the closest enemy unit/building in its radar range. It can work if you can deal with all the scavs at the front of any decent strat player's base collecting all of the loose scrap.

Another trick against jammers, if your in a 4+player strat is to get your thug to paint an enemy's ship, wait until they go back to base for pods and then tell your bomber to bomb them, with luck the bomb will fall right on the rec or bay. :), does not work so well with apcs though as they will chase the target.
